From 2017 to 2019, The Philly Pigeon presented a multidisciplinary production that combines poetry, dance, music and visual art. This production allowed poets to explore the expanse of the artform without the confines of slam. We believe that performance poetry can thrive beyond open-mics and readings. We produced a professional theatrical production with poetry at its center to push artists and audience alike to reimagine what poetry can be.

 

The cast of each production was made up of the top five ranked poets from the slam season and other invited artists. Under the direction of collective member, Kai Davis, the cast writes, workshops, and stages an original and collaborative piece.

Following the Covid-19 pandemic our poetry productions are on pause as we seek funding for this work.
